THE PEACE, monthly talk concert by MANNAM Busan

Monthly Talk Concert, THE PEACE was held by MANNAM Busan branch on July 27.

The topic of this month was HUMAN RIGHTS.

MANNAM International friends who comes from all over the world, we shared our experiences and knowledge related to the topic, HUMAN RIGHTS.

Tanka (Nepal)
I choose no 2, 12, 17.
No Discrimination. There is a discrimination in Sex in my country, Nepal. Especially, Muslim women, they should put up their scarf always. I think this is a religious discrimination for woman. Another one is race. We have cast system. They cannot get marry to other cast. Another one is education. If only someone has money, they can get the education. I think it is also a discrimination. And classes. People divides rich people and poor people. Rich people has the power and they can do more than the poor people. And culture and religion. I think this one is the most important thing. People who has certain religion they should not ignore nor fight with others who has different religions.

Sahiir (Pakistan)
We are all equal before the law and we have rights for our privacy. No one can take away our rights. That is it!

Jun (Canada)
I choose 18, 19, and 22.
We have rights to have security, expression, and thought.
I lived in Canada which human right is highly remained. I didn't really experienced any discrimination related security, expressions, and thoughts. However I would like to add one thing which is a right to eat as much as possible. I don't wanna get any discrimination by eating a lot. South Korean discriminates by eating a lot and fat people.

Hugo (Mexico / America)
No slavery. That is obvious. so I am gonna scratch that one out. There is a discrimination in purpose. I don't want to say discrimination is good but we discriminate man model to female under wear. Man can wear female under wear but people discriminates that female under wear is only for female. There is not man model in Victoria Secret catalogue. Why should not be. There is one thing I would ask. Why GQ magazine does not hire you as a model, Jun? That is a discrimination. You can think whatever you want but if you don't expression what you think, there is no point. So I think expressing in fashion is the same thing.
Food, shelter and water, everybody should have that.
A big problem in Mexico right now is.. There are a lot of discrimination in my country. To be honest with you, I was in a winning side of the discrimination. In Mexico, I am fairly tall, and have white skin, green eyes, so they think I have got kind of good blood. But Mexican who has very very short and dark skin, they are discriminated to get a job and treated poorly everyday. They discriminate by the face skin color. More than 90% of Mexicans are Roman Catholic, so not the religious thing, and they are all poor, so not the money thing either. It comes down on the skin color which is silly.

Fernaz (Iran)
The first one is we are born to be equal. This is not true actually. The people born in rich country and poor country, they are so different. Even before the birth, the food and facilities their mother had are very different and it affects their child. Our humanity is equal but not in practise. Being rich is necessarily to be the success but anyway it is very different.
The other one is that we have the right to security. In Korea I really feel secure but this security is what your society and government give you and you cannot do anything with this. Wherever I live, I obey the rules of the country, so I wear scarf when I am in Iran, but it does not mean secure. It depends on the society.

news, terror, and MANNAM peace

[Australia, Canada in 'terror' warnings in Philippines]

MANILA: Australia and Canada warned Wednesday about fresh threats of terrorism and kidnapping in the southern Philippines, and Canberra barred its diplomats from travelling to three cities in the area.
Both urged their citizens not to travel to large parts of the Mindanao region, with the Australian government specifically barring its diplomats from the cities of Davao, Cotabato and Zamboanga.
An Australian embassy spokeswoman told AFP the travel ban went into effect from Monday and until further notice.
"We have a duty of care to ensure the safety of staff overseas," she said. The embassy declined to discuss any specific threats.
The Canadian embassy advised its citizens to avoid all travel to most parts of Mindanao "due to the serious threat of terrorist attacks and kidnapping".
It said the advisory was issued Tuesday and was still valid Wednesday. Embassy spokesmen could not be reached for comment.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website said the new advisory for the Philippines concerned terrorism and serious crime.
The United States embassy in Manila had already warned its citizens on May 29 of a "credible kidnap threat against foreigners in Zamboanga", it added.
In late 2002 Australia and Canada closed their Manila embassies for more than a month due to an unspecified terrorist threat. Both missions later moved to a new building.
Mindanao is the hotbed of a decades-old Muslim insurgency. President Benigno Aquino is aiming to sign a peace treaty with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, the largest guerrilla force there, before 2016.
The island is also the stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, Islamic militants with links to Al Qaeda who have staged deadly bombings and kidnappings of foreigners for ransom.
In March Abu Sayyaf militants released Australian Warren Rodwell after holding him for 15 months. An undisclosed ransom was paid.
Other Abu Sayyaf factions are believed to be holding other hostages, including two European bird watchers.
US troops have been based in the southern Philippines for more than a decade to help train local troops in hunting down members of the group.

[MANNAN PEACE] K-pop, 하나되어(As One)

In 1998, South Korea had a hart time with an economic crisis.
K-pop singers made a song to encourage all of Korean and it hepled to overcome the adversity.
Now, I am sending this song to the people who suffers from any kind of war.
We won as one!!

I got through a grief that I never expected

I ran forward without caring other things

now, don't blame anyone

think about your difficiency

we still have hope

credability gets stronger in hardship

yes, let's start all over again

with spirit of new person

we can do it, we can stand up against it

all those hard times passes

we won as one

world is looking at us

world will be suspicious of our start

we must show them

the power we didn't realize

we can do it, we can stand up against it

all those hard times

we won as one

that sun highup is spotlighting us

lets move to our hopeful future hand by hand. Waoo Wao~

we can do it (we can accomplish it) we can stand up again (we can stand up again)

all those hardships we had (all the hardships)

We became one, we as one, we won

[MANNAM International] Nelson Mandela, please get well soon!!

Yesterday, I heard a sad news about Nelson Mandela.

"South Africa's beloved former president, Nelson Mandela 94, is in a hospital in serious condition with a lung infection, according to South African government officials."

Mandela, revered as South Africa's first post-apartheid black president, served one term as president and stepped down in 1999 to concentrate on charity work helping children, particularly those orphaned through AIDS. He has not been active in public life for almost a decade. But he remains an enormously important symbol of hope and unity in South Africa, a country with lingering racial tensions, widespread poverty and massive social problems.

I, as a member of MANNAM volunteer association, do really respect Mandela and his life. I always try to follow his footsteps for the world peace. Here, I share some of his quotes.

[Nelson Mandela Quotes]
* Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

* I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

* If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.

* It always seems impossible until its done.

* If there are dreams about a beautiful South Africa, there are also roads that lead to their goal. Two of these   roads could be named Goodness and Forgiveness.

Mandela, please get well soon!!!

MANNAM walks and works for world peace

Last month, we participated the peace walking campaign in Seoul as a member of MANNAM volunteer association. While I walked through the peace gate of the Olympic park and heared a speech of the chairman Man Hee Lee, there was a person came up to my mind. His name is Mahatma Gandhi, the peace leader. I like him very much since childhood and I still remember his quotes.
I would like to share some of them today!!

[Gandhi Quotes]

* It is better to be violent, if there is violence in our hearts, than to put on the cloak of nonviolence to cover impotence.

* An ounce of practise is worth than tons of preaching.

* Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

* Prayer is the key of the morning and the bolt of the evening.

* I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

* Where there is love, there is life.

* First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

* Live as if you were to die tomorrow.  Learn as if you were to live forever.

[MANNAM] The walk for peace and restoration with International peace youth group

May 25, 2013 at the peace gate of Seoul Olympic Park,
Youth groups from 130 countries walked for world peace and unification of Korea.
Peace advocate Mr. Man Hee Lee announced the answer of how to achieve world peace, the Declaration of World Peace. It will be a valuable milestone in our journey towards peace. Here is the full text of the Declaration of World Peace.

[The Declaration of World Peace]
The Heavens and the Earth formed by the hands of the Creator have been given to humanity as an inheritance. In all the universe, life in its vast splendor exists only on our world.
The life that grows on the earth is sustained from above - by light, by the rain, and by the air they provide unconditionally to all living beings. We have received the precious gift of life from above, let us give glory to heaven, and live in peace on earth. This is the truest teaching of heaven.
With this eternal gift - the grace and life we have received - are we entitled to fight, kill and destroy one another? We cannot claim to desire peace and continue to provoke one another, causing conflict for the sake of valuing our own national interests above those of others. This will only take the lives of the youth, wasting them in the futility of war. This is not a legacy we can leave to future generations. Of what use is a young life, born in our day and age, if it is thrown away in this manner - thrown away without having had a chance to bloom? What price can compensate for the loss of a life? Do these young souls have another chance at life?
As emissaries of humanity through a new and heavenly culture, we declare the following:
We call on the heads of state of every country to sign an international agreement - a commitment to bringing all wars to an end. We ask them to do this from a spirit of deep-seated love for the people of their country.
We call  on all youth to unite in an effort to stop wars and pursue the restoration of peace by agreeing not to fight one another. For World Pace to become a reality, this is the duty of all youth, everywhere. The only way to stop the fighting and pointless, tragic deaths, is to stop fighting. Nobody can ask for anything greater than this, and know that your efforts - the efforts of the young people of the world today in pursuit of peace - will remain as a never fading light of life for all future generations.
Furthermore, we call on every person, every man, woman, and child in the world, to pick up the mantle of peace. In whatever way you can, we ask that you work to further the cause of world peace and restoration, making it a reality in your direct environments.
Lastly, we call on the media to port responsibly and promote a message of peace to the world.
Thank you.
