For WORLD PEACE, 2013' The 2nd MANNAM Victory Cup is coming soon!!

It might be a good news for all of MANNAM members and everyone who loves sports that The 2nd MANNAM Victory Cup is coming soon.

MANNAM International started to hold this sports league from last year to achieve world peace through sports. Beyond the nationality, ethnic, religion, and every single walls that blocks world peace, we gather and bring our pure hearts to share love, peace, and respect toward others. There are still a lot of wars exist in this world right now. It does not matter you aware of it or not, a youngman might be killed by the other during the war in this time. What a tragedy!!

MANNAM International is not supporting any kind of war. War should be stopped. People should stop to kill others by the name of war. It cannot be justified any of reason. That is why MANNAM International started sports league. Each teams were just an opponent each other when we met first time. However, we are getting to know each others and become friends in the end of the sports league. We do not play sports for just winning the game, but we try to understand and respect others. Our aim is that becoming a winner by the true and pure sportsmanship. What if we toss a ball instead of pointing guns!!

[MANNAM Soccer] Phoenix vs Titans in 2012'

The report of 2012 MANNAM Soccer match, Phoenix vs Titans.

Mannam Busan, a.k.a. Titan, made a long trip to Seoul to come lock horns against MN Phoenix on Saturday August 25th. The match promised to be a hard fought battle even before kick off.
Busan won the finals of the 5-a-side soccer tournament at the Mannam Charity Games, played in Daejeon on August 4th. Phoenix got as far as the semifinals, losing on penalty kicks to a team called Toosan. It promised to be a tough match as soon as the fixture was decided.
The game got off to a good pace with Phoenix dominating and looking good going forward. Titans kept their structure and looked solid in defense. Our forwards, Tatsuya and Rafael caused a few problems for the defense, using their pace to good effect. The only thing missing was clinical finishing and support coming in early from the midfield players. The Titan’s goalkeeper was at his best, making some good saves.
Our team had a new look about it with debuts for Christopher Arnaud in goals, Julien Chan in defense and Luke Vieira in the middle of the park. The guys played their hearts out, adding good value to an already stellar Phoenix team.

Mannam K-pop had a routine prepared for the game, cheering the players on throughout the 80 minutes. Not even the rain could stop them. A lot of people from other Mannam clubs also came to the match, routing for the team in red, creating a positive buzz around the pitch. It was a memorable event for all involved.
The game ended in a 1-0 scoreline in favor of the Titans. Both teams played well, but as the sport goes there could only be one winner at the end of the day.
This was a good warm up match before the kickoff of our fall league campaign. The team is well amped and ready to hit the ground running, come September 1st at the Seoul National University of Education.

[MANNAM Volunteer] Mandela day in South Korea with MANNAM

July 18,
Do you have any idea what date it is? My birthday? No!
It is the Mandela day!! Never heard of it? That is why I am telling you about Mandela day now.

According to the official website of Nelson Mandela International day(www.mandeladay.com),  it began in 2008, following the success of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebrations in London’s Hyde Park, it was decided that there could be nothing more fitting than to celebrate Mr Mandela’s birthday each year with a day dedicated to his life’s work and that of his charitable organisations, and to ensure his legacy continues forever.
The Mandela Day campaign message is simple: Mr Mandela gave 67 years of his life fighting for the rights of humanity. All they are asking is that everyone gives 67 minutes of their time, whether it’s supporting your chosen charity or serving your local community. There are 67 ways to change the world.
Think of others
1. Make a new friend. Get to know someone from a different cultural background. Only through mutual understanding can we rid our communities of intolerance and xenophobia.
2. Read to someone who can’t. Visit a local home for the blind and open up a new world for someone else.
3. Fix the potholes in your street or neighbourhood.
4. Help out at the local animal shelter. Dogs without homes still need a walk and a bit of love.
5. Find out from your local library if it has a story hour and offer to read during it.
6. Offer to take an elderly neighbour who can’t drive to do their shopping/chores.
7. Organise a litter cleanup day in your area.
8. Get a group of people to each knit a square and make a blanket for someone in need.
9. Volunteer at your police station or local faith-based organisation.
10. Donate your skills!
11. If you’re a builder, help build or improve someone’s home.
12. Help someone to get his/her business off the ground.
13. Build a website for someone who needs one, or for a cause you think needs the support.
14. Help someone get a job. Put together and print a CV for them, or help them with their interview skills.
15. If you’re a lawyer, do some pro bono work for a worthwhile cause or person.
16. Write to your area councillor about a problem in the area that requires attention, which you, in your personal capacity, are unable to attend to.
17. Sponsor a group of learners to go to the theatre/zoo.
Help out for good health18. Get in touch with your local HIV organisations and find out how you can help.
19. Help out at your local hospice, as staff members often need as much support as the patients.
20. Many terminally ill people have no one to speak to. Take a little time to have a chat and bring some sunshine into their lives.
21. Talk to your friends and family about HIV.
22. Get tested for HIV and encourage your partner to do so too.
23. Take a bag full of toys to a local hospital that has a children’s ward.
24. Take younger members of your family for a walk in the park.
25. Donate some medical supplies to a local community clinic.
26. Take someone you know, who can’t afford it, to get their eyes tested or their teeth checked.
27. Bake something for a support group of your choice.
28. Start a community garden to encourage healthy eating in your community.
29. Donate a wheelchair or guide dog, to someone in need.
30. Create a food parcel and give it to someone in need.
Become an educator31. Offer to help out at your local school.
32. Mentor a school leaver or student in your field of expertise.
33. Coach one of the extramural activities the school offers. You can also volunteer to coach an extramural activity the school doesn’t offer.
34. Offer to provide tutoring in a school subject you are good at.
35. Donate your old computer.
36. Help maintain the sports fields.
37. Fix up a classroom by replacing broken windows, doors and light bulbs.
38. Donate a bag of art supplies.
39. Teach an adult literacy class.
40. Paint classrooms and school buildings.
41. Donate your old textbooks, or any other good books, to a school library.
Help those living in poverty
42. Buy a few blankets, or grab the ones you no longer need from home and give them to someone in need.
43. Clean out your cupboard and donate the clothes you no longer wear to someone who needs them.
44. Put together food parcels for a needy family.
45. Organise a bake sale, car wash or garage sale for charity and donate the proceeds.
46. To the poorest of the poor, shoes can be a luxury. Don’t hoard them if you don’t wear them. Pass them on!
47. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen.
Care for the youth48. Help at a local children’s home or orphanage.
49. Help the kids with their studies.
50. Organise a friendly game of soccer, or sponsor the kids to watch a game at the local stadium.
51. Coach a sports team and make new friends.

59. Take someone’s dog for a walk if they are too frail to do so themselves.
60. Mow someone’s lawn and help them to fix things around their house.
Look after your environment61. If there are no recycling centres in your area, petition your area councillor to provide one.
62. Donate indigenous trees to beautify neighbourhoods in poorer areas.
63. Collect old newspapers from a school/community centre/hospital and take them to a recycling centre.
64. Identify open manhole covers or drains in your area and report them to the local authorities.
65. Organise the company/school/organisation that you work with to switch off all unnecessary lights and power supplies at night and on weekends.
66. Engage with people who litter and see if you can convince them of the value of clean surroundings.
67. Organise to clean up your local park, river, beach, street, town square or sports grounds with a few friends. Our children deserve to grow up in a clean and healthy environment.
Mandela Day is a call to action for individuals – for people everywhere – to take responsibility for changing the world into a better place, one small step at a time, just as Mr Mandela did.

The activities for world peace of Mandela day and MANNAM Volunteer Association have a lot in common. That is why some MANNAM International members run volunteering, sports activities and campaign events on July 18 to share our love and lights. Anyone who wants to participate in these campaigns or has interests to share your warm hearts, do not hesitate to join MANNAM and make the world brighter together!

MANNAM CULTURE!!

We want to know about MANNAM

Q) What is the meaning of 'when light meets light, there is victory'?
A) Every single person is a light and should become a light. As these people who are like light meet, we can defeat the dark world. The MANNAM’s slogan is “when light meets light, there is victory!”

Q) What does MANNAM pursue in its “culture and art service”?
A) MANNAM is well-known for its strong volunteerism and outstanding cultural event planning ability. Delivering donation to the less fortunate is also a service that MANNAM is involved in, however, the delivering messages of hope and love through cultural and art performances is also what MANNAM pursues. Therefore, every MANNAM event is accompanied with an art and cultural performance of high standards.

Q) Why does MANNAM do country-related events?
A) It is very natural to dedicate time and efforts to those we love. As MANNAM loves its country and sincerely appreciates those who sacrificed their lives for the country, it is logical to give our time and effort. We do not see this as sacrifice. The question of “why do you do country-related events?” is equivalent to the question of “why do you love another?”

Q) Question to the Chairwoman of MANNAM: “What does volunteer work mean to you?”
A) I believe that the basic foundation of every ideology is filial piety, and this is not limited to only Korea. When one is dutiful to one’s parent, it is filial piety; when the same devotion is shown to a country, it becomes loyalty; and in religion, it becomes faith. This is based on sacrifice, thinking of others before oneself, which is related to the core mentality and spirit of volunteer service. Service in MANNAM is voluntary and dedicating oneself as he/she is doing work at one’s home, even when picking up garbage on the street. This is the spirit of MANNAM.

Q) What are the future plans of MANNAM?
A) For world peace, there must be the unification of Korea. Every MANNAM member sincerely longs forunification and is concerned with the issue. Hence, during the 65thAnniversary of Korean Independence Day event, MANNAM announced the Declaration of Unification which expresses hope for a true unification of North and South Korea. Also, the Declaration of Unificationmonument was set in the east and west, where the north is in sight.
Also, as the entire world must cooperate among one another for the unification of Korea, MANNAM will take the lead in forming and evoking the world’s consensus and support. For world peace, MANNAMpursues to become theambassador of world peace and will host world cultural exchange events.
