[MANNAM International] The 1st MANNAM Korean speech contest

MANNAM Volunteer association host's final for '1st Korean speaking contest'

-America, Nepal, China, Indonesia, etc 7 countries 9 participant's experience in Korea.

"1st MANNAM's Korean speaking contest' was held may 12th 4pm at Jowun Samsun Hospital 8th floor with many of the foreigners to bring peace through communication.

This event's host 'MANNAM volunteer association Busan North sector' had opened 'Korean class' since last year and supported everyone to understand Korean and Korean cultures for free, and because of people's ongoing interest and enthusiasm made this 'Korean speaking contest'.

 'Korean speaking contest' was held first time this year and it's purpose was to bring everyone to have interest in Korean culture and language, and through understanding of the cultures eventually will bring everyone to look past countries, race, and culture and achieve peace. This will be the annual event and it will be the next cultural icon in Busan's international community.

This day MANNAM volunteer association Busan North sector's president Kyung Min Nam, Second chance study's chairman Pan Su Yoo, Busan international University's professor Noel Woodword, Korean Nepal community Busan sector leader L.B.Bist, Busan Joong-gu volunteer centre's president Sang Soo Choi  came as guest to honor the occasion.

In this day MANNAM volunteer association Busan North sector's chief Su Kyung Kim and members of the MANNAM volunteer association and 200 of the participant's friend cheer on as the event went on.

MANNAM volunteer association Busan North sector's chief Su Kyung Kim said "It was very hard when we first started Korean class but hard works of true volunteers and eager students made thing work and now we have over 70 students and growing.

And "We follow the act of MANNAM's honorary president Mr. Man Hee Lee, who also volunteers and works for the world peace, in the mind of the unconditionally giving nature of sunlight, rain and air so we could eventually achieve world peace."

Following the successful preliminary everyone anticipated for this final. Nepal, Indonesia, Russia, America, China, Taiwan, and Philippine 7 countries 9 participant spoke about the title which was called 'Korea that I met'.

Each speaker was given minimum of 5 minute to speak and they were firmly judged on pronunciation, contents, originality, and attitude. When everyone finished presenting there was a voting for the most popular presenter for the audience.

This day Brett Warren Inskip (America), Zhang  Dong Mei (China), Punla Jeanenalyn (Philippine), Chen Jhen-Rong (Taiwan),Sanjeep Prasai (Nepal) and other contestants had prepared speech titled, 'Beauty of Korea', 'Korea corporation', 'Korean kindness', 'Korean afterwork dining party' and presented them in Korean.

These finalists, who were chosen from 70 people from preliminary, were so great they surprise everyone including the judges with their perfect pronunciation and variety of topics they spoke of.

Especially Sanjeep Prasai(Nepal) who spoke of 'Korean afterwork dining party' was captivating with perfect pronunciation and sang Korean trot to be the crowds favorite and got a lot of applause from the crowds.

One of the judges from Second chance study's chairman Pan Su Yoo has replied "I was very surprised by these foreigners’ Korean skills and episode of their Korean experiences were very memorable." and "By looking at these participants us Korean have to learn from them and work even hard to study and change the way we live as well"

In this event Zafira Wirawan(Indonesia), Khoikova Tatiana (Russia) came 3rd, Zhang  Dong Mei (China)came 2nd, Sanjeep Prasai(Nepal)came 1st and popular award was given to him as well.

This day's winner of 1st and popular award Sanjeep Prasai (Nepal) has replied in his interview " At first speaking in front of many people frightening to me but with the helps of Korean teachers from MANNAM helped me a lot and so did my friends." and "I am very thankful for MANNAM volunteer to given me this opportunity and I would like to volunteer to teach Korean to the foreigners if I have chance."
 
2nd prize winner Zhang Dong Mei (China) replied "I am very grateful for the MANNAM to host such events. Everyone did great and I am little surprised that I won 2nd prize. I have been to other speaking contest but nothing like warmth of this contest."

There were performances by Bit-sol dance team's Korean traditional fan dance and Light team's k-pop 'Gentleman' dance as for everyone to enjoy together.

MANNAM volunteer association is non profit organization which host 'Victory Cup', 'Talk concert (The Peace Talk)', 'Korean class', and various activities to bring all international people regardless of their nationality, race, and religion. This speaking contest will be held annually.

MANNAM volunteer association Busan North sector is holding Victory cup that began last month. For the 1st and 2nd place Vietnam vs Thailand, For the 3rd and 4th place Vietnam vs Nepal on may 26th 4-7pm in Eulsukdo soccer field.
